I started Uprooted Films because I wanted to tell female-centered stories that are inclusive, empowering and embrace imperfection. As a woman in this industry, I care very deeply about being intentional with the content our company creates as a source of inspiration for young women on the journey of finding their voice and defining their true selves. The name Uprooted Films is inspired by my journey to find my roots after moving around the world in my childhood. Growing up, being my authentic self rather than changing to “fit in” did not lead to inclusion. As a result, my mission is to inspire a cultural shift to celebrate and love our differences and empower young people to bravely find their unique voice. In our social media age, comparison and perfectionism are all too common. Uprooted Films strives to create content and tell stories that defy these negative aspects of the social media universe and use the mediums in more relatable and honest ways.
